Position Summary

Responsible for assisting in the operation of natural gas processing facility to ensure optimum plant performance, including monitoring operations of natural gas processing plant, product treating, and compression, making necessary adjustments, performing inspections and conducting preventive maintenance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement safe work practices and participate in proactive safety culture while ensuring safety for the employee, public and environment at all times.
  • Performing PMs, diagnose, trouble-shoot, repair, and maintain overall proper function of the following types of equipment:
    • High speed reciprocating compressors
    • Low speed compressors, air compressors, pumps, fans, blowers, and other plant equipment
  • Monitor and recognize dangerous and or emergency conditions within the process and performs procedures necessary to remove the condition or shutdown the process / facility to protect personnel and equipment
  • Monitor usage of utilities, fuel, chemicals, lube oils, etc. to prevent excessive consumption at current processing and production rates
  • Perform routine startup and shutdown of individual equipment and processes
  • Recognize danger signals from equipment and perform emergency repairs, which could include the shutdown of facilities and/or pipelines
  • Performs pipeline identification based on requests, including locating and marking lines. May use electronic locating equipment and/or a probe in conjunction with drawings to confirm pipeline location. May direct backhoe operator in location identification when same is used.
  • Installs permanent, metal post markers, or may use temporary marking methods such as paint marking and pin flagging pipeline. Replaces damaged or missing markers.
  • Interface with support personnel, operation, measurement, instrumentation/electrical, etc., to resolve operational upset issues
  • Training of co-workers in safe and proper job procedures.
  • Collaborate with direct supervisor on new and improved ideas associated with an evolving plant and pipeline system.
  • Assists with capital projects and day-to-day business relating to the gathering system.
  • Pigs pipelines on a regular basis to maintain an efficient operation.
  • Takes callouts on equipment and compressors, responding in a timely manner.
  • Continuously review and monitor facility operations for optimization.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent certification required. Applied science degree (AAS) in Petroleum Production Operations, Instrumentation and Controls Technology or two years’ experience working as a plant operator or similar role in the industry preferred. Must be able to pass all PSM and DOT required operator qualifications.

Language Ability

Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Mathematical Ability

Add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Compute rate, ratio and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability

Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
