Position Summary
Install, configure, calibrate and troubleshoot instrumentation in support of Field and Plant Operations. Work closely with the technical staff to ensure safe and reliable operation of process instrumentation and control systems. Provide general troubleshooting, power and instrumentation measurements in both field and plant installations. Receive direction from engineering and other maintenance personnel.

- Executing all measurement and metering equipment troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair according to applicable regulations, standards, policies, and procedures and in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
- Providing technical guidance for the design, installation, and operation of all measurement and metering equipment.
- Providing Measurement technical expertise to engineering, operations, and other maintenance personnel within UGC.
- Working with Engineering Services and Measurement Supervisors to ensure related standards, policies, and procedures are fit for purpose and cost-effective
- Managing UGC’s critical measurement and metering equipment inventory and critical spare replacement plan
- Developing a long-range plan to ensure all measurement and metering equipment is properly maintained according to applicable standards and policies and considering system and equipment criticality and available data and ensuring this plan is incorporated into UGC’s capital, expense, and major maintenance budgets
- Working with the Engineering Director to implement tools, processes, and new technologies
- Ensuring loss/gains, failures and near misses are appropriately investigated and resulting action items are implemented
- Physically inspect orifice plate and fitting. Calibrate any chart recorder, transmitter or EFM associated with the orifice.
- Collect spot samples of crude oil, condensate and natural gas.
- Collect composite samples and troubleshoot composite sampler malfunctions.
- Accurately complete all required permits, reports and forms.
- Perform gas measurements, gas analysis, calibrate meters and install meters.
- Maintain professional behavior and proper communication with internal and external contacts, including company employees, customers, and outside vendors.
- Properly utilize and care for and secure all company tools, supplies, and vehicles.
- Comply with all corporate policies and OSHA rules while carrying out all work processes.

Qualifications

Education/Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent certification required. Applied science degree (AAS) in Petroleum Production Operations, Instrumentation and Controls Technology or related preferred.
- Familiarity with RTU/EFM (Fisher ROC, Bristol, AutoPilot, etc.) preferred.
- Familiarity with Communications (MDS, Free Wave and Modems etc.)
- Familiarity with PLC (ScadaPack, Allen Bradley)
- Familiarity with Transmitters (1-5v, 4-20mA, Rosemount, Wika etc.)
- Familiarity with Level Sensors (Electrolab, Rosemount, Oleumtech, Vega etc.)
- Journeyman electrical designation is highly preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience working as an I&E Technician or similar role in the industry preferred.
- Familiarity with flow computers, orifice plates, positive displacement meters, radar gauges, fiber optics and Ethernet communication equipment.
- Familiarity with cathodic protection and corrosion.
Language Ability
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Write routine reports and correspondence. Speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
Mathematical Ability
Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, literacy in PLC software, databases, Test It, Patch IQ and DCS with a preference to Delta V (Emerson) experience.
